In a tense moment during the ongoing first Test match between Bangladesh and South Africa, a humorous incident provided much-needed entertainment. Bangladesh fast bowler Hasan Mahmud hit South Africa lower order batter Dane Piedt with a wild throw amidst a run-out fumble in the first innings.
Overnight batters Wiaan Mulder and Kyle Verreynne started with a confident approach on the second day of the match. Wiaan Mulder and Kyle Verreynne added a 119-run stand for the seventh wicket in South Africa's first innings. Both batters completed half-centuries against the Bangladesh spin attack.
However, Hasan Mahmud took two crucial wickets by dismissing Mulder and Keshav Maharaj in back-to-back balls. The visiting team was restricted to 227/8 before Dane Piedt joined Kyle Verreynne at the crease. Before lunch break on Day 2, a hilarious mix-up with a comedy of errors took place.

The incident took place on the last ball of the 69th over of South Africa’s innings. Hasan Mahmud bowled a low full toss and Piedt drove it back towards the bowler. The ball deflected off Mahmud's hand and hit the stumps at the non-striker's end. Kyle Verreynne was well inside the crease to survive.
However, Piedt ran for a single, but his partner Verreynne remained in his crease. The lower-order batter hurried back to the striker's end after realizing the miscommunication. Hasan Mahmud attempted a throw but hit Piedt on the thigh. The moment gained attention from users on social media platforms.

On the second day, South Africa strengthened their grip on the game with Verreynne scoring a brilliant century. South Africa managed to post a total of 308 and took a 202-run lead. Verreynne scored 114 runs off 144 balls, including eight fours and two sixes, while Piedt added 82 runs off 87 balls.

Bangladesh Bowled Out for Just 106 Runs in the First Innings
Bangladesh was bowled out for just 106 runs in the first innings after winning the toss at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka. Opener Mahmudul Hasan Joy was the top scorer for Bangladesh with 30 runs off 97 balls. Kagiso Rabada, Wiaan Mulder, and Keshav Maharaj took three wickets each.
