The Big Bash League (BBL 2020-21) has so far been hysterical with all the happenings taking place throughout its course in the last one and a half month. Another hilarious moment appeared in the league on Monday when Australian batsman Jake Weatherald was run out twice on a single delivery.

The Adelaide Strikers took on Sydney Thunder in match 51 of the BBL 2020-21 on Sunday morning. Having won the toss, Adelaide Strikers opted to bat first at their home turf, Adelaide Oval. Openers, Alex Carey and Jake Weatherald took to the crease as both the men in form looked to set another huge total for the Thunders to chase.

First up, wicketkeeper-batsman Alex Carey was sent back home as he was caught plumb by Nathan McAndrew. However, the most hilarious moment of the innings appeared in the 10th over of the first innings when Australian batsman Jake Weatherald was involved in a rather comical run out like no other.

On the last second delivery of the 10th over, Jake Weatherald was on the non-striker’s end when Chris Green, the Sydney all-rounder, put his hand in front of the wickets while bowling to dismiss Weatherald as he was out of his crease. However, the drama didn’t end there as Weatherald and his partner, Phillip Salt tried to steal a run and the Sydney wicketkeeper, Sam Billings, ran out Weatherald on the opposite end this time.

Later, the third umpire confirmed that Jake Weatherald had already been dismissed on the first instance when the ball had clipped the bails at the non-striker’s end off Chris Green.

Sydney Thunder Have To Chase A Decent Total In The Second Innings

The Adelaide Strikers batted first and put up a decent total on the scoreboard as they completed the first innings on 159 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their 20 overs. None of the Adelaide batsmen were able to score a half-century. Sydney Thunder needs to chase 160 runs to win the game and be in the front runners to enter the knockout stage of BBL 2020-21.
