Chennai Super Kings (CSK) had a terrible outing with the bat in the game against Delhi Capitals (DC). The 17th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 took place at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Saturday (5th April).
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) failed with the bat yet again in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. While chasing the target of 184 runs, the hosts had a terrible start as in-form batter Rachin Ravindra (3) fell early, and after that, things didn't go their way at all in the match.

Skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad (5) also couldn't set the stage on fire and Devon Conway (13) had a poor outing on his comeback as Chennai Super Kings (CSK) were left reeling at 41 for three in the chase of 184. Shivam Dube (18), who came out as an impact player, also failed as the hosts came under massive pressure.
As the Chennai Super Kings kept losing wickets at regular intervals, young player Vansh Bedi, who was in the dugout, dozed off while sitting by the side of Ravindra Jadeja. The pictures went viral on the internet as the camera focused on him.

After Chennai Super Kings were left reeling at 74 for five, Vijay Shankar and MS Dhoni joined hands. The duo made sure that the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led didn't lose any more wickets, but they batted pretty slow as Delhi Capitals took the command of the match at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
Vijay Shankar (69*) was the shining light for his team as he slammed a solid fifty. MS Dhoni (30*) couldn't get his timing right as both, despite their unbeaten 84-run partnership, CSK failed to chase the target as they lost the game by 25 runs.
For Delhi Capitals, Vipraj Nigam picked two wickets while Mitchell Starc, Mukesh Kumar, and Kuldeep Yadav bagged one scalp each. Thanks to the brilliant bowling effort, the Axar Patel-led side registered their third consecutive win over the season.
Pretty good performance today, we batted first and the whole batting lineup adjusted well - Mitchell Starc
Mitchell Starc talked about the team's performance after the game, saying that they batted pretty well and their bowling unit was fantastic. He also talked about the pitch conditions and while speaking to the broadcaster after the game, he said:
"Pretty good performance today, we batted first and the whole batting lineup adjusted well. On par or just above but we still needed to bowl well, we got powerplay wickets and our bowling unit was fantastic as well. That's key in all cricket, particularly in T20 cricket where you go through the ebbs and flows. (on differences between here and Vizag) Still bloody hot.
"Sole difference is the red-soil here, it had more pace than Vizag, still two-paced and skidded a bit according to the batters. One side was big and you could defend one side and all the bowlers adjusted well. (on his yorker) Everyone knows it is coming but if you can execute it it still is a good ball. You can't have an ego in T20 cricket, search for things outside the box, try not to be predictable."
