Watch - Dan Mousley takes a stunning relay catch on the boundary in The Hundred
Batting allrounder Dan Mousley took a stunning relay catch during the match between London Spirit and Birmingham Phoenix played at Lord's London. It was the fifth match of The Hundred 2024.
During the 23rd ball of the first innings when London Spirit were batting, Sean Abbott was bowling to wicketkeeper-batter Adam Rossington. Abbott bowled a length ball on leg-stump which Rossington tried to slog sweep over the deep backward square leg boundary.
Rossington almost hit the ball for a six but Dan Mousley came running from deep midwicket and held on to the catch just inside the boundary. Realizing that he was falling over the ropes, Mousley tossed the ball up and went over the boundary rope. Adam Milne tried to get across and take the catch by running in from a short fine leg.
But Mousley dived back inside the playing field to take a stunning catch with both hands. Milne and Mousley almost collided but fortunately, there were no injuries for Birmingham Phoenix.

Mousley took this catch at the iconic Lord's which made this catch even more special. His catch helped Birmingham Phoenix start a turnaround and restricted London Spirit to 127-7 in 100 balls.
Earlier, Birmingham Phoenix won the toss and elected to field first. Their bowlers proved the decision right by restricting London Spirit to 30-5 in the first 28 balls. But some handy lower-order contributions from Liam Dawson and Andre Russell took London Spirit to a respectable total. Dawson scored 36 off 34 balls with 2 fours and a six while Russell smashed a fiery unbeaten 37 off 20 balls, which included 1 four and 4 sixes.
For Birmingham Phoenix, it was all about Tim Southee and Sean Abbott as the duo shared 6-30 between them in 40 balls. Southee finished with 2-16 while Abbott was superb and had figures of 4-14.
Chasing 128 to win, Birmingham Phoenix too had a poor start as they were reduced to 4-20 in the first 23 balls. When Phoenix lost Moeen Ali, it seemed like they had lost their path. But Dan Mousley came to the rescue again, this time with the bat, and scored a valuable 39 off 38 balls.
It needed lower-order cameos from Jacob Bethell and Benny Howell to take the Phoenix home. Bethell scored 43 off 27 balls, which included 4 fours and a six while Howell scored 24 off just 12 balls with 2 fours and 1 six as Birmingham Phoenix chased down the target in the penultimate ball of the match with 3 wickets in hand.
Daniel Worrall, Olly Stone, and Liam Dawson picked up two wickets apiece for London Spirit. With this win, Birmingham Phoenix registered its first win of the competition while London Spirit stayed winless.
