Devdutt Padikkal is not only known for his batting talent but for his excellent catching skills as well. During Day 1 of the Irani Cup match between the Rest of India and Mumbai, Padikkal took a stunning catch to pick up the big wicket of Prithvi Shaw.

The rest of India won the toss and elected to field first at Lucknow. During the third over of Mumbai's first innings, Mukesh Kumar picked up the huge wicket of Prithvi Shaw. Mukesh bowled a good length ball outside off stump and Shaw could not resist and tried to drive the ball through the covers.

But the batter got an outside edge and it flew to Padikkal's right. Padikkal moved perfectly and caught the ball with both hands while diving to his right at second slip. It was a catching masterclass from the talented batter.

Devdutt Padikkal was mobbed by his teammates after the fantastic catch. Bowler Mukesh Kumar, too, was ecstatic as Rest of India team celebrated the fall of Mumbai's first wicket.

Mumbai lose three early wickets

Shaw was dismissed for just 4 off 7 balls. After his wicket, Mumbai lost the wicketkeeper Hardik Tamore, who came in to bat at No. 3. Tamore was also dismissed by Mukesh Kumar for a duck.

Debutant Ayush Mhatre, who came to open the innings alongside Prithvi Shaw, was also dismissed cheaply. Mhatre was looking good with the bat but his innings was short lived as he was out for 19 off 35 balls.

All of the top three wickets were picked up by Mukesh Kumar as he was sensational in his new ball spell. Mukesh pitched the ball up and made good use of the early morning conditions at Lucknow.

Mukesh's new ball partner Yash Dayal too bowled well but did not have wickets to show. Meanawhile, Rest of India picked up a strong Playing XI for the match with both the wicketkeepers Dhruv Jurel and Ishan Kishan in the XI.

Ruturaj Gaikwad leads a strong Rest of India team

Ruturaj Gaikwad is leading the team with Abhimanyu Easwaran as the vice-captain. Both Gaikwad and Easwaran are likely to open the innings as well. The middle order looks strong with Sai Sudharsan, Devdutt Padikkal, and Ishan Kishan.

Unfortunately, there was no place for the youngster Shashwat Rawat, who was impressive in the Duleep Trophy recently. Mukesh Kumar, Yash Dayal, and Prasidh Krishna are the fast bowlers while Saranash Jain and Manav Suthar are the spinners.

Meanwhile, Mumbai have a strong line-up as well with the likes of international stars like Ajinkya Rahane, Shreyas Iyer, and Sarfaraz Khan in their batting order. Shardul Thakur is making a comeback from surgery and provides strength to this team.
