South African rising superstar Dewald Brevis wreaked havoc in the T20Is against Australia but was lured into a wicket by part-time spinner Travis Head as he converted the batter's excessive knack for hitting sixes into a wicket in the first ODI.
The South Africans are currently on their white-ball tour against Australia. The Aussies are a pretty dominant force on their own soil, as they claimed the T20I series with a 2-1 margin, despite the brilliance of Dewald Brevis, who scored 180 runs alone in the series, which also included a stunning 125* in the second match.
After an end to the T20Is, the Aussies are taking on the Proteas in the ODI series, as they look to revamp their squad after the retirement of former veterans Steve Smith and Glenn Maxwell. They have also rested the likes of skipper Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc. Mitchell Marsh has instead been swapped in as the captain.

In the first ODI at Cairns, South Africa was sent in to bat first, as Australia won the toss and opted to bowl first. Likely the openers gave the Proteas a great start, while the skipper, Temba Bavuma, also built on a firm partnership with Matthew Bretzkee in the middle order.
After Bretzkee got out, Tristan Stubbs fell to part-timer Travis Head, and Dewald Brevis, the star in the making, came on to the crease, marking his debut for South Africa in ODIs. The very first ball from the Australian part-timer was launched back straight over the bowler's head by Brevis.
The commentators were also in total awe of the sheer power and utter brilliance with which he played the shot. After a remarkable hit, Brevis seemed more confident, and he swung at the next ball as well, which was relatively outside the off-stump.
In his attempt to hit it over the long-on boundary, he was caught right on the fence by Alex Carey. This marked the end of Brevis's short 2-ball stay on the crease.

Aiden Markram fires alongside the Proteas top-order
The South Africans were sent in to bat first, and their seasoned opener Aiden Markram came in to bat alongside Ryan Rickelton. The two batters added vital runs for the opening stand and gave the Proteas a firm start before Rickelton fell to a shocking bowling change from Marsh.
Temba Bavuma was the new man in at no. 3 and the nightmare duo for Aussies, Bavuma and Markram, once again looked very good and seemingly took the game away just like they did during the WTC Final.
Ben Dwarshius got the Aussies back with the opener's wicket, which brought Bretzkee on to the crease, and he, alongside his captain, once again built on a solid partnership. After Bretzkee was caught off Zampa, the Aussies clinched the control of the game with back-to-back wickets from Travis Head.
The lower order could not contribute much, though Wiaan Mulder scored some runs lately; South African's could only manage 296, which looks much less compared to the stage they were once in.
Travis Head emerges as a handy second spinner for Australia
The Australian opening batter, known widely for his antics with the bat, dominated with the ball this time around. After missing out on the West Indies, Head is back for Australia; however, he could not fire in the T20I series.
Having been called in as a sudden replacement by the skipper, Head picked the crucial wickets of Rickelton, Stubbs, and Dewald Brevis. Dewald Brevis' wicket was a set trap from the seasoned campaigner. He finished with figures of 4/57 in 9 overs and will now come out to chase the set target of 297.
