Few cricketers in the game of cricket can match the street smartness of MS Dhoni. The former India skipper is one of the most decorated captains in the history of the game.
Till date, he is the only captain to have won all the three ICC events in limited-overs cricket. In 2007, he led India to the historic triumph in the inaugural T20 World Cup which was his first captaincy assignment. Four years later, he ended India’s 28-year wait for the ODI World Cup title and two years later, he led the team to glory in the Champions Trophy in England.
His captaincy in IPL is equally impressive. No captain has led a team in the finals as well as the playoffs more than him in the history of the tournament. He also jointly holds the record for winning most IPL title as captain. MS Dhoni has led Chennai Super Kings to 5 titles.

What made MS Dhoni different from others was not only his street-smartness but also his calm demeanor. He rarely showed emotions on the field and that always kept the opposition guessing about his next move. And he recently shared an anecdote that once again proved it.
In a recent event, MS Dhoni revealed how he managed to outfox the Bangladeshi players due to his knowledge of the language Bengali. Before becoming a cricket star in India, the India legend was working as a ticket collector in Kharagpur town of West Bengal and was well versed with Bengali. The Bangladeshi cricketers, however, were unaware of that fact and kept talking about their plans in front of him in Bengali during the game.
“Kharagpur me mere railways ka job that aur us samay mera Bengali bahut achhi thi. Ab bolunga toh bhulbhal bolunga, kisko kya kharaab laag jayega (When I used to work at Kharagpur in Railways, my Bengali was very well. Now if I speak, I may commit mistakes),” MS Dhoni said in the event.
He then revealed how Bangladeshi players were talking in Bengali, thinking that he did not know the language. The World Cup-winning captain revealed that the Bangladesh wicketkeeper was instructing the bowlers in Bengali and he could understand all of that. But the Bangladeshi players eventually realised that their opponent knew their language and Dhoni revealed it in a hilarious fashion in the event.
“E to Bangla bujhte paare” (He understands Bengali!),” said MS Dhoni while recalling the reactions of the Bangladeshi players.
