Watch: Ellyse Perry's 'shocking' reaction after destroying car's window with tremendous six in WPL 2024

Royal Challengers Bangalore Women and Australia Women’s National Cricket Team champion all-rounder, Ellyse Perry, destroyed the window of a display car with her magnificent six during a Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 game on Monday, March 4.

The Smriti Mandhana-led Royal Challengers Bangalore Women are locking horns with Alyssa Healy-led UP Warriorz in the 11th match of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.

UP Warriorz Women won the toss and elected to bowl first in the match. They were not able to deliver a good performance with the ball and weren’t very good on the field as well. Royal Challengers Bangalore Women batters Smriti Mandhana, Ellyse Perry, Richa Ghosh, and Sabbhineni Meghana played stunning knocks to help their side post a humongous total of 198/3 on the board.

The RCB-W skipper Smriti Mandhana was the best performer with the bat as she smashed a sensational 80 runs off 50 balls, with 10 fours and 3 sixes. She was involved in an amazing partnership with Ellyse Perry and the duo together added 95 runs off 64 balls.

Perry also played a fantastic innings and smoked the UP Warriorz bowlers all-over the park. She smashed 58 runs off 37 balls, with 4 fours and 4 sixes.

One of her sixes became the talk of the town as she launched the ball with her powerful stroke and it went on to destroy the window of the display car that was in the stadium.

On the 5th ball of the 19th over, Deepti Sharma tossed up a full-length delivery on off-stump and Perry pressed forward and smashed it over the deep mid-wicket fence for a magnificent six. The ball hit the window of the display car and destroyed it. Looking at her six damaging the car, Ellyse Perry had a shocked look on her face.

Speaking ahead of the match, Ellyse Perry said that they have been talking about getting back to the winning ways in the dressing room and expressed confidence in her team’s success against UP Warriorz. She said:

“That’s (getting back to winning ways) what we’ve been speaking about and that would be really nice. We’ve got a super tough challenge ahead of us tonight with UP and the one that we are also really looking forward to, should be a great match. Our last one at home as well, so we really want to make the most of it. 

“Clearly something to do with the conditions, teams are so adapted to chasing totals these days. Regardless of the toss tonight, we’ve got a really good handle on what we require ourselves to do tonight to be successful.”

Ellyse Perry also talked about not bowling her full quota of four overs despite being in top form. She said that it has to do with the depth in the bowling unit of RCB-W. Ellyse Perry said:

“Just to do with the depth and wealth and options that we have in our bowling line-up and what’s working on the night. It’s really nice to have that. We’ve gone in with a spin-heavy attack. I haven’t played there (Delhi) for a long time, we’ve got the luxury of seeing a game there tomorrow night and getting a little bit of handle on what we might expect. We’ve got some local knowledge within the group as well who know how those conditions play.”
