The Pakistan Cricket Team is already facing a lot of scrutiny for their disappointing performances at the highest level, especially in the recent ICC T20 World Cup 2024, and their players like Shaheen Shah Afridi and Iftikhar Ahmed are working like ghee on fire.

After Shaheen Afridi’s alleged misbehavior towards Pakistan team coaches grabbed a lot of headlines, Iftikhar Ahmed has yet again returned to the radar of fans for his poor performance. He was recently trolled heavily for his poor batting at the nets, giving away his wicket easily to the uncapped young pacer.

Iftikhar Ahmed's Club Cricket embarrassment goes viral

The Pakistan team is currently gearing up for the upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh at home, and some players have opted to play club cricket to have some match time before the WTC series, and Iftikhar was among them.

Recently, Iftikhar participated in a club cricket match in Peshawar only for his embarrassment, as the right-handed batter, who is considered Pakistan’s explosive batter, was dismissed for a golden duck, and fans once again went berserk at him for the flop show even at the club level cricket.

In the viral video, the 33-year-old batter made an impressive yet hilarious entry to the crease, but after facing the first ball, he was caught out, and the club cricketers cheered with joy. This was an absolute embarrassment for the player who represented his country in international cricket.

Well, the fans left no stone unturned in expressing their anger, calling Iftikhar a “club-level cricketer," “destroyer of Pakistan cricket,” and “actor” on the microblogging site X. Some users also mocked the Pakistani batter for his bizarre run-up, with some urging fans to stop paying attention to Iftikhar.

Pakistan to start camp for Bangladesh Tests on August 6: Jason Gillespie

Meanwhile, the Pakistan cricket team is currently gearing up for the two-match Test series against Bangladesh, and the red-ball head coach, Jason Gillespie, revealed that they are planning to set up a camp, starting on August 6, to prepare for the home series. He also said that the probables for the Bangladesh Test series will be announced by the end of the month.

Gillespie was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan: “We will also assess the pressure on the batters. We aim to prepare a backup. A camp will be set up from August 6 for preparations for the series against Bangladesh. We will announce the problems for the series by the end of this month.

It has not been decided yet who will be given rest. Shan Masood will lead the Test team. He is currently playing county cricket in England. Although we have not met, we stay in touch over the phone.”

Notably, Shan Masood will continue as Pakistan’s Test captain, but there are uncertainties over Babar Azam’s future as white-ball captain, with the PCB neither confirming his stay nor making comments on changes for their next limited-overs series in October-November in Australia. They last played an international match in the T20 World Cup 2024 against Ireland on June 16.
