Watch: England Greats Brutally Troll Dinesh Karthik For Lecturing Virat Kohli In IPL 2025 Final

Dinesh Karthik's witty nature is well-known to cricket fans. The former India wicketkeeper-batsman can talk his way out of almost anything.

However, he found himself in uncharted territory during a recent podcast with former England captains Michael Atherton and Nasser Hussain. Dinesh Karthik was at a loss for words and had no comeback when Atherton decided to roast him during the podcast.

Atherton decided to have some fun at Dinesh Karthik's expense as he asked him about an incident that took place during the IPL 2025 final earlier this month. Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings faced each other in the title-decider at the Narendra Modi Stadium on June 3.

Atherton was talking about an incident that took place during one of the strategic timeouts. During the break, Dinesh Karthik came out on the field and was seen saying something to Virat Kohli, who was batting at that time. The advice, however, did not pay off as Kohli lost his wicket in the very next over.

"Before the final, I predicted that if RCB won, you would be right at
the front holding the trophy, which turned out to be true, and Virat Kohli was right at the back, but you won the trophy. And secondly, in that final, what I noticed was, in a strategic timeout, you spent a long time telling Virat Kohli what to do.

"He was at the crease and you spent a long time, I saw you there, pointing at him, and I think he was out the very next over, after your five-minute lecture. Tell me what you said to him," Atherton asked Karthik on the Sky Sports Podcast.

Atherton's question left Karthik in stitches as he said: "This is probably the hardest question I've been asked on a podcast. The first part, at least, I can manage."

"The second part, I'm trying to think, without getting scarred for my life, I need to say the right answer."

Karthik had no answer to the question, and he quickly shot back at Atherton, saying: "What did you think I was telling him, considering he got out the next over?"

To which the former cricketer-turned-commentator said: "Well, I don't know.

"I just thought, what is this man telling one of the greatest batters that has ever walked the earth? What can he possibly be telling him? And then I thought, whatever he told him didn't work, because he was out the very next over," he added.

Karthik was still laughing and had no answer as he said: "I really don't have a memory of whatever I said."

Nasser Hussain also decided to have some fun as he said: "I think it's the first time ever that you haven't got an answer. You're silent."

The Bengaluru-based outfit beat Punjab Kings by 6 runs to win their first-ever IPL trophy. Karthik plied his trade as a batting coach for the team, and his impact was quite evident as the RCB batters performed consistently throughout the competition.
