A big Virat Kohli fan breached security to touch the feet of the former Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain on the field during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 opener.

The massive security breach happened in the IPL 2025 opener between the Rajat Patidar-led Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and the Ajinkya Rahane-led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Saturday, March 22.

Kohli enjoys a massive fan following across the globe, and several times, the fans have tried to breach security to meet him and hug him on the field.

Although they have not been successful every time due to the presence of strong security at the venues, a young fan made a successful attempt at the Eden Gardens.

The incident unfolded when Virat Kohli was batting with Rajat Patidar as the fan suddenly came in running towards Kohli and fell on his feet and then hugged him. Then, the security personnel immediately took the fan away from Kohli.

Talking about the match, Kohli remained unbeaten till the end and played a knock of 59 runs off 36 balls to guide the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to a 7-wicket win over the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Phil Salt also played a wonderful knock for RCB and hit a terrific fifty (56 off 31).

Virat Kohli's opening partner, Phil Salt, while speaking ahead of the match said that he is excited to start his new journey in the Indian Premier League with the new team. He elaborated:

"Getting used to the new jersey, to be honest. New year, new team, you start again. As a franchise cricketer, you find yourself all over the world really. Lots of fun memories and a lot of good guys in that dressing room but when it is time for the first ball tonight, it is game on."

"I am not a numbers person. Obviously, they can give you a confidence booster, but sometimes they can be very deceptive as well. I think it is more about confidence."

Phil Salt further talked about how the role of openers has changed in IPL, and they need to go all out from the beginning of the innings. While speaking about Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Phil Salt said that the fans have been magnificent, and they provide huge support to the players of the franchise.

"Yeah, it definitely has. It is quite a big thing now. Last year, was I feel sort of when the aggression went up. The impact sub has lengthened the batting order. I feel it is a role where you got to take the game by the scruff of the neck," Phil Salt said.

"Coming out here, the fans, it is an experience that you don't get anywhere else in the world. That makes it really, really special. As a player, you always want to play against the best and in the best settings, that's all here.

"The fans have been magnificent from what I have seen so far. They have been at every practice session. While getting on and off the bus, they have been wild. Very grateful for that but yeah, that took a bit to get used to."

Phil Salt, in the end, wished Rajat Patidar luck for his journey as the skipper of Royal Challengers Bengaluru and was hopeful of a lot of success under him.

"Obviously, all the best to Rajat. He looks like a good guy and got a good head on his shoulders. Hopefully, we have a lot of success under him."
