Shivam Dube, on Friday (January 31), scored a brilliant fifty in the ongoing fourth T20I between India and England at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.
Team India were in deep trouble after England captain Jos Buttler won the toss and opted to bowl first. In the very second over of the game, Saqib Mahmood dismissed Sanju Samson, Tilak Varma, and Suryakumar Yadav to leave India reeling at 12/3.
Abhishek Sharma and Rinku Singh then steadied the ship but could not score big as they departed in quick succession to leave India reeling at 79/5 in the 11th over. With India staring down the barrel, Shivam Dube and Hardik Pandya came to the team's rescue. Both the all-rounders scored brilliant fifties to rescue the team and guide it to a competitive total.

Shivam Dube and Hardik Pandya shared 87 runs for the sixth wicket. The stand was broken by Jamie Overton in the 18th over when he dismissed Pandya. The allrounder departed after scoring 53 runs off 30 balls with the help of four fours and as many sixes.
Gautam Gambhir unhappy with Shivam Dube:
Shivam Dube completed his fifty soon after Pandya's departure. He reached the milestone with a boundary on the last ball of the 19th over. The Mumbai star completed his fifty off just 31 balls. Dube eventually lost his wicket on the final ball of the innings when he was run out for 53.
His knock came off 34 balls and was studded with seven fours and two sixes. It was a fine knock for the allrounder who was playing his first game for India since August last year. He missed India's home T20I series against Bangladesh due to a back injury before missing the T20I series in South Africa as well.
He recently plied his trade for Mumbai in the domestic circuit. Dube was not named in the squad for the ongoing series as well. However, the selectors recalled him and Ramandeep Singh after Nitish Reddy and Rinku Singh suffered injuries.
With Dube scoring a fifty in his comeback game, he is receiving praise from all around. As soon as he completed the fifty, fans took to social media to praise him for his brilliant knock under pressure. However, a few fans claim that India head coach Gautam Gambhir was not happy to see Dube complete his half-century.
A video of Gambhir clapping for Dube while sporting a serious face has gone viral on social media. The fans are claiming that the head coach was not happy to see Dube's fifty although they did not specify any reason.
