Gautam Gambhir Fumes At Sanju Samson

Gautam Gambhir's reaction said it all after Sanju Samson threw away yet another chance to impress with the bat in the ongoing second India vs Bangladesh T20I at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Since the appointment of the former India opener as the head coach of the side, Sanju Samson has received ample chances in T20Is. However, the right-handed batsman has failed to impress so far and is running out of time to cement his place in the Indian team.

In July, he played in two of the three T20Is that India played against Sri Lanka. In both the games, the wicketkeeper-batsman failed to open his account. Even after the twin failures, the selectors backed him and named him in the squad for the ongoing three-match series against Bangladesh.

Even though Jitesh Sharma was in the squad, the team management preferred Sanju Samson as the wicketkeeper in the first two games so far. However, the under-pressure Kerala star has failed to grab the opportunities so far. In both the games, he opened the innings but failed to score big.

In the first T20I when India were chasing a modest total of 128 runs, Sanju Samson got the start but could not convert it into a big score. He was eventually out for 29 runs. And on Wednesday (October 9), he flopped once again with the bat.

Sanju Samson opened his account by hitting Mehidy Hasan Miraz for two fours in the first over before being dismissed for 10 runs in the second over. On the final ball of the over from Taskin Ahmed, Sanju Samson miscued his drive straight to Najmul Hossain Shanto at mid-off.

And as Samson threw away another opportunity, Gautam Gambhir just could not hide his disappointment. The India head coach's facial expression made it absolutely clear that he was not at all impressed with Samson's latest failure.

Meanwhile, India recovered from a poor start to post a big total in the second T20I. After being reduced to 41/3 inside the powerplay, the Men in Blue finished their innings on 221/9. Nitish Reddy and Rinku Singh starred with the bat for the hosts, scoring 74 and 53 runs respectively.
