Gus Atkinson, the charismatic English paceman making his comeback at The Oval Test, took an ultra fine grab to get rid of India's talismanic nightwatchman Akash Deep.
India struggled against the English batters first up as they were bowled out for just 224 runs in the first innings, with Karun Nair being the highest scorer in the innings. English openers were off to a flyer as they scored a quickfire 92 runs.
The Indian bowlers did a fairly good job in the post Lunch and post tea session as England could take a lead of just 23 runs in the first innings. The Indians looked in further trouble as the two early wickets fell in the second innings.

The nightwatchman faced just 2 balls and was on 4 yesterday and went on to add 62 more runs alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal, building a 100+ run partnership.
After much struggle, England bowlers finally found him out of position as he top edged a bouncer from Jamie Overton, which was caught stunningly by Gus Atkinson diving forward for the catch.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Akash Deep's partnership reignited hope in the Indian camp
The left handed opener has shown pure intent in the second innings and his daring has paid off, as he has been put down twice by the English fielders.
Jaiswal himself scored a flurry of runs and built onto a strong 100+ run partnership alongside India's surprise package in the final Test, Akash Deep. The batter was sent in to survive any further fall of wicket on Day 2, he instead turned onto be a nightmare for England.
Akash Deep contributed 66 with the bat and became one of India's highest run-getters in the match.Their partnership reignited the hope for a win in the Indian camp after they suffered a major blow with the two early wickets.
Akash Deep has Third most runs as an Indian nightwatchman
With the stunning 66 off 94 balls Akash Deep the Indian paceman who was sent in as a no. 4 batter in the role of a nightwatchman has emerged as India's third highest scorer in the role.
For India legendary wicket-keeper Syed Kirmani scored a stunning hundred as a nightwatchman which till day remains the highest score as a batter. Amit Mishra the former Indian spinner also played such an innings vs England in 2011.
Mishra is second on the list with 84 runs as a nightwatchman and now Akash Deep has a similar record against the same opposition. His innings will remain to be inspiring in the history of India vs England Tests.
