Virat Kohli has been facing criticism from several quarters for his poor campaign with the bat in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024 so far.

The former India skipper came into the World Cup on the back of a stellar IPL campaign for Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Kohli impressed one and all not only with his consistency but his much-talked-about strike rate as well. He finished the tournament as the highest run-scorer.

In a season where no other batter could touch the 600-run mark, Virat Kohli scored a staggering 741 runs with the help of one century and five half-centuries while maintaining a strike-rate of almost 155. Unsurprisingly, a lot was expected from the batting superstar in the ongoing T20 World Cup.

However, Virat Kohli has failed to live up to the expectations and has had an absolutely disastrous campaign so far. Even though the conditions for batting have not been easy in New York, not many expected Virat Kohli to struggle much. He has been promoted as an opener but has not managed to justify the decision so far.

In three games, he has managed to score only 5 runs. He started his campaign by scoring 1 run off 5 balls against Ireland. In the second game against Pakistan, Kohli could score only 4 runs before being dismissed for a golden duck against the USA.

Even though Kohli has not really lived up to the expectations so far, the fans in the USA have been supporting him wholeheartedly and a viral video aptly captures the situation. In the video, the fans could be seen chanting a lighthearted slogan for Kohli.

"Hamara neta kaisa ho, Virat Kohli jaisa ho," chanted the fans. Kohli was also quick to acknowledge the support as he turned back and waved at the fans.

Unlike Virat Kohli, India have started their campaign in the T20 World Cup in a strong fashion and have already booked their place in the Super 8s by winning their first three games. They will be facing Canada in their last group game before the Super 8s get underway.
