Devdutt Padikkal led the way with a composed 117 off 193 balls, anchoring India's innings after Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul were dismissed early. Shubman Gill contributed 50, while Rishabh Pant added a valuable 63 off 89 deliveries.
India's lower middle order then ensured the total crossed the 500-run mark. Dhruv Jurel remained unbeaten on 115 off 177 balls, with his century providing the foundation for India's declaration. Ravindra Jadeja also chipped in with 43, while Manav Suthar and Saransh Jain added 18 and 6 respectively.
For Sri Lanka, Prabath Jayasuriya and Keshara Nuwantha claimed two wickets each, while Asitha Fernando bagged 4 wickets. India eventually declared at 503/9 after 138 overs, leaving Sri Lanka with a huge task to stay in the contest.
India bowlers shine as Sri Lanka bundled for 290
Sri Lanka struggled to match India's first-innings total and were bowled out for 290 in 89.4 overs, giving India a substantial first-innings lead.
The hosts lost Lahiru Udara and Prabath Jayasuriya cheaply before Kamil Mishara steadied the innings with 19. Pasindu Sooriyabandara then produced Sri Lanka's best resistance, scoring 80 off 133 balls with nine fours.
Kamindu Mendis added 32, but Sri Lanka's innings lacked the partnerships needed to put pressure back on India. Sonal Dinusha provided the biggest contribution, making an impressive 103 off 162 balls, including eight fours and three sixes.
India's bowling attack shared the workload effectively. Prasidh Krishna took 3/52, while Manav Suthar also claimed three wickets for 85 runs. Saransh Jain picked up two wickets, with Mohammed Siraj and Ravindra Jadeja taking one each. Sri Lanka's total of 290 left them 213 runs behind India, putting the visitors firmly in control of the Test.

Sonal Dinusha was the standout performer once again. After his first-innings century, the left-hander remained unbeaten on 133 off 264 balls, adding another major contribution to his remarkable series.
Dinusha found support from Keshara Nuwantha, who made 46, while Dhananjaya de Silva contributed 23. Sri Lanka eventually reached 429/9 in 154 overs, leaving India without enough time to force a victory.
Prasidh Krishna, Manav Suthar and Saransh Jain picked up wickets for India, but Sri Lanka's stubborn resistance ensured the Test ended in a draw.
