Hardik Pandya, on Sunday (October 6), clean bowled Shoriful Islam for a duck in the first India vs Bangladesh T20I at the New Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium, Gwalior.

The allrounder had failed to pick up any wicket in his first three overs before finally picking one in his fourth and final over. Captain Suryakumar Yadav handed the ball to Hardik Pandya to bowl the 18th over. The India star, who had bowled the final over in the T20 World Cup earlier this year, came up with a brilliant effort with the ball.

He conceded only 3 runs and picked up a wicket as well. On the fifth ball of the over, Hardik Pandya sent back Shoriful Islam for a two-ball duck. It was a full-length delivery from Hardik Pandya and the Bangladesh tailender wanted to play the ball towards the off-side.

He backed away to make room for himself. However, Shoriful could not make any contact with the ball and was clean-bowled.

Pandya finished his spell with figures of 1 for 26. Talking about the game, Bangladesh finished their innings with 127 runs after being asked to bat first. The visitors never really looked in contention to post a big total after losing two wickets inside the powerplay.

At one stage, they were reeling at 57/5 in the tenth over. They lost two more wickets before reaching the 100-run mark. Mehidy Hasan Miraz then played an unbeaten knock of 35 runs to guide the team to a respectable total. Miraz was the only Bangladesh batter to reach 30 runs in the innings.

For India, Varun Chakravarthy, playing his first T20I since 2021, and Arshdeep Singh impressed with the ball, taking three wickets each. Debutant Mayank Yadav and Washington Sundar picked up a wicket as well.

In reply, India were on 38 for 1 in the fourth over at the time of writing this report. Abhishek Sharma raced away to 16 runs off just 6 balls before being run out on the last ball of the second over. Sanju Samson and Suryakumar Yadav were batting in the middle after Sharma's departure.
