Harshit Rana dropped Mohammad Rizwan in the crucial moment to leave Hardik Pandya and Rohit Sharma furious at him during the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025 match between India and Pakistan at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai.
Mohammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel’s 100+ runs partnership had already frustrated the Indian camp, and after 22 overs, they had the chance to break this partnership, but this chance also slipped from their hands, all thanks to Harshit Rana’s poor fielding in Dubai.
Harshit Rana’s costly drop leaves Hardik Pandya and Rohit Sharma fuming in Dubai
On the last ball of the 33rd over, Hardik Pandya bowled a 130.2 kph delivery, and Rizwan stepped down the track, trying to go big against the full-length ball angling in. However, the Pakistan skipper got more height than distance, sending the ball high into the air.

Rohit Sharma also gave Rana a silent treatment with his sharp stare after Rizwan got the lifeline in Dubai.

Axar Patel triggers Pakistan’s mini collapse against India
However, in the next over, Axar Patel made the amendments, as the spinner managed to finally break the steady partnership of 104 runs off 144 balls between Rizwan and Shakeel in the 34th over. Well, the Pakistan skipper, who had survived a dropped catch earlier, couldn’t make the most of his lifeline, as Axar Patel provided the Men in Blue the much-needed breakthrough.
Stepping down the pitch to take on Axar, Rizwan misjudged the delivery and completely missed his shot. The ball sneaked through and crashed into the stumps, leaving Rizwan stunned. Axar celebrated with both hands in the air, while Rizwan walked back after a slow knock of 46 runs off 77 balls. However, his strike rate was poor, but he managed to pull his team out of danger.
Hardik Pandya joins elite club with his stunning bowling against Pakistan
Rizwan’s wicket led to a mini batting collapse as Hardik Pandya dismissed Saud Shakeel for 62 runs off 76 balls while Ravindra Jadeja stunned Tayyab Tahir for just 4 runs. It was Hardik Pandya’s ninth wicket against Pakistan in ICC ODI tournaments. He joined Courtney Walsh and Ashish Nehra for the most wickets against Pakistan in ICC ODI tournaments.
However, Salman Ali Agha and Khushdil Shan are trying to pace up Pakistan’s innings in the remaining 10 overs against India. The Men in Green are racing towards the 200-run mark, and they have five wickets in hand, while Hardik and Kuldeep Yadav have so far been the most effective bowlers for India in the ongoing India-Pakistan clash.
Notably, the cameras caught Rohit Sharma feeling some discomfort in his left hamstring when Khushdil Shah played a reverse sweep, sending the ball towards cover. Rohit started to chase it but didn’t push too hard, leaving Shreyas Iyer to clean up the fielding.
