Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya may not have had a good day at the office in the first T20I against England at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad but he certainly showed a glimpse of his sumptuous strokeplay during his 21-ball 19.
Hardik had come to the crease with Team India tottering at 4/48 after having lost the crucial wicket of Rishabh Pant.
Pandya, who was batting in a competitive game for the first time since the Australian tour, struggled for his timing, especially against Mark Wood, who troubled him with his searing pace and extra bounce.
But Hardik did show some of his brilliance at the expense of his counterpart Ben Stokes as he stroked him for a nonchalant ‘no-look six over his head in the 15th over.
It all happened on the fourth ball of the 15th over when Ben Stokes once again dished out a slower delivery. Hardik was quick to spot it and he proceeded to deposit it in the long-off stands.
Pandya backed it up with an audacious ramp shot for a boundary.
