Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya came to bat earlier than expected in the first T20 international against England in Ahmedabad. Though Hardik Pandya’s stay was brief, the swashbuckling all-rounder played a couple of glorious shots in India’s most successful partnership. One of those was a ramp shot for four runs that came off his against his counterpart, Ben Stokes.
It was in the 18th over that Hardik Pandya exited the crease when Jofra Archer dismissed him, with Chris Jordan taking a catch at mid-off. The 27-year old shared a 54-run stand with Shreyas Iyer to put the hosts on track for a respectable total. Earlier, India lost their top-three in KL Rahul, Shikhar Dhawan, and Virat Kohli for single-figures within the powerplay after losing the toss.

India’s innings ended at a paltry 124 as Shreyas Iyer’s 67 off 48 balls was the only shining light. Archer was the pick of the bowlers, claiming figures of 4-0-22-3, with Adil Rashid, Mark Wood, Ben Stokes, and Chris Jordan taking one each. Left-arm seamer Sam Curran was the only one to go wicketless, bowling two overs.
