Leading from the front, MI skipper Harmanpreet Kaur delivered a captain’s knock, smashing a match-winning 66 off 44 balls to help her team post 149/7 on the board against the DC. Kaur’s heroics set the stage for Mumbai’s dominance and earned her the Player of the Match award.

But the final twist came in the last over, where Nat Sciver-Brunt showcased nerves of steel, as the England pacer successfully defended 14 runs to help Mumbai Indians clinch their second WPL title, leaving Delhi Capitals heartbroken as they failed to lift the title for the third time.
Meanwhile, the moment of victory saw an outpouring of emotions, as the MI team owner, Nita Ambani, rushed onto the field, sharing an emotional embrace with Harmanpreet Kaur and Sciver-Brunt. In the viral video, Kaur can be seen sharing an emotional hug with Nita Ambani.

Later, other MI players joined Kaur and the owner for the celebration. On the other hand, a heartbroken Marizanne Kapp couldn’t control her tears as DC missed yet another opportunity to lift the WPL trophy. However, the South African star played a stunning knock of 40 runs off 26 balls.

Apart from Marizanne Kapp, Jemimah Rodrigues (30 runs off 21 balls) and Niki Prasad (25* runs off 23 balls) were the only notable contributors during DC’s unsuccessful chase of 150 runs against the MI, as half of their line-up was dismissed for a single-digit score in the summit clash.

For Mumbai Indians, it was a night of triumph, resilience, and redemption, but it was another painful chapter for Delhi Capitals, and the official social media handle of the Women’s Premier League showed all these emotions. Marizanne Kapp was absolutely heartbroken after the loss.
Defending a target of 150, Nat Sciver-Brunt bowled brilliantly, taking 3 wickets for 30 runs, including the crucial dismissal of Kapp. Amelia Kerr also played a key role, grabbing 2 wickets for 25 runs to help MI restrict DC to 141/9 in 20 overs in the WPL 2025 final in Mumbai.
Notably, Delhi dominated the points table in all three WPL seasons but have always fallen short in the final. This time, they also faced their first-ever back-to-back defeats in a single edition. While Kaur and her team earned INR 6 crore as prize money, DC skipper Meg Lanning got INR 3 crore and a shield for being the runner-up of this WPL 2025 season.
