England fast bowler Jofra Archer landed a crucial blow on Team India on Day 2 (Thursday, July 24) of the fourth Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy Test at Old Trafford in Manchester. Archer dismissed all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja to turn the match in the hosts' favor, with Harry Brook taking a low catch in the slips.
The Men in Blue started the day at 264/4 with Ravindra Jadeja (19) and Shardul Thakur (19) at the crease. Chris Woakes bowled the first over with the second new ball in India's first innings. After a couple of edges fell short of the slips in his first over of the day, Archer got rid of Ravindra Jadeja with a good delivery.
Watch: Harry Brook Plucks Stunning Catch to Dismiss Ravindra Jadeja on Day 2
Jofra Archer removed Ravindra Jadeja in the morning session, troubling the batters with his movement. After a couple of deliveries edged short of the slip cordon, Archer struck gold when Jadeja nicked a delivery that moved away off the seam.
Harry Brook, stationed at second slip, dived low to his right to take a sharp catch, sending Jadeja back for 20 off 40 balls. The dismissal ended Jadeja’s streak of four successive half-centuries and put India on the back foot early in the day.
Archer’s ability to apply consistent pressure paid off, giving England early momentum and shifting the balance of the match in the hosts’ favor. India were reduced to 266/5, with Washington Sundar walking in next.

That's a Cracking Catch from Harry Brook - Former England Spinner Phil Tufnell
Former England spinner Phil Tufnell praised Jofra Archer and Harry Brook following Ravindra Jadeja's dismissal. He described Brook’s grab at second slip as a "great catch." Tufnell called Archer's precise line and length spot on.
"Great catch. It's just doing a bit for Jofra Archer now. There was a good healthy edge but that's a cracking catch from Harry Brook. Jofra Archer has got that line and length spot on at the moment and another left hander, Washington Sundar, has just come out. Slips, get ready," Tufnell said, as quoted by BBC Test Match Special.
Rishabh Pant Unlikely To Bat For India On Day 2
Rishabh Pant is unlikely to bat on Day 2 of the match. The southpaw sustained a serious toe injury in the 68th over while attempting a reverse sweep off a yorker from Chris Woakes. The ball took an inside edge and struck his toe, leading to bleeding from the foot. He had to be taken off the field on a golf cart.
Before the injury, Pant was in fine touch, scoring 37 off 48 balls with two fours and a six. He shared a crucial 72-run stand with Sai Sudharsan to rescue India from a difficult position.
The medical team is hopeful he might return for the second innings. Dhruv Jurel will take over wicketkeeping duties, and Ishan Kishan is expected to be added to the squad for the fifth Test.
