Team India fast bowler Harshit Rana recently showcased his quick wit and Delhi-style humour during a fan interaction at the airport, which went viral on social media platforms. The right-handed bowler jokingly asked, “Main girlfriend hu kya aapki?” when a fan held his hand too close while taking a photo.
India have named a squad for the upcoming ODIs in Australia. Shubman Gill will lead the 15-member team with an eye on the ICC ODI World Cup 2027. In the pace department, Harshit, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, and Arshdeep Singh are included, along with young all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy.
Main Girlfriend Hu Kya Aapki? - Harshit Rana’s Witty Response
At the airport, Harshit Rana found himself surrounded by paparazzi and fans as he prepared to leave for his next assignment. The young fan, in excitement, grabbed Rana’s hand and pulled it close while trying to take a selfie.
Rana humorously asked, “Aray, aray, main girlfriend hu kya aapki?” which roughly translates to “Oh, am I your girlfriend or what?” The fan instantly pulled back his hand but continued with the picture.
The pacer, unfazed and smiling for the cameras, seemed well adjusted to the situation. Rana later mentioned that he was on his way to Australia, where he will represent India in both the ODI and T20I series.

Harshit Rana Last Played for Team India in Asia Cup 2025
Harshit is among the few cricketers whose career has flourished under Gautam Gambhir’s mentorship. However, some critics have questioned the fairness of his selection, suggesting Gambhir may favor Rana due to their shared Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) roots.
Rana endured a tough outing against Sri Lanka in the 2025 Asia Cup Super Fours. The 23-year-old was hit hard by the Sri Lankan batsmen, finishing with figures of 1/54 in four overs. India secured a win over Sri Lanka and went on to clinch the tournament.
Rana is still early in his international career, having played just 10 games across all formats since making his Test debut in Australia last year. He has featured in two Tests for India, claiming four wickets. The pacer has also played five ODIs, picking up 10 wickets at an economy rate of 5.69.
Constant Yes-Man to Gautam Gambhir - Kris Srikkanth Slams Harshit Rana’s Selection
Former selector Kris Srikkanth has criticized Harshit’s selection in the national team. Srikkanth also stated that Rana is a constant yes-man to Gautam Gambhir, adding that he doesn’t deserve a place in the team.
“You don’t pick some players even if they do well and take others even if they don’t. Best is to be like Harshit Rana and be a constant yes-man to Gambhir to be selected," he said in a recent YouTube video.
"You should start building towards the 2027 World Cup. But I feel they’ve not. If you pick Harshit Rana and Nitish Kumar Reddy among the probabilities, then you can wave goodbye to the trophy," Srikkanth added.
