Young fast bowler Harshit Rana didn't take too long to showcase his worth as he shattered the stumps of Travis Head to pick up his maiden Test wicket during the first Test match between Australia and India at Perth.
Rana picked up the big wicket in the first ball of the 12th over of Australia's first innings. The 22-year-old bowled a full-length ball outside off stump as Head was stuck on the back foot and tried to defend.
But the ball went past his outside edge to smash the top of off. The bails went flying in the air and Rana was off on a celebratory run. Travis Head had no response to this ball as he was completely bamboozled by the debutant quick.

In Harshit Rana's previous over, Travis Head had hit him four 2 fours. But the youngster came back strongly to produce a beauty in the first ball of his next over. It was a perfect response from Rana and the batter and no answer to it.
Travis Head has troubled India a no. of times before. The left-hander bats aggressively and has the ability to take the game away from the opposition single-handedly. His wicket was a big one for India as Australia had lost a counter-attacking batter.
Harshit Rana will also remember this wicket as it wasn't just a great ball but also his maiden Test wicket. The youngster made full use of Head's knack of staying back in the crease instead of moving forward.
Indian fast bowlers on fire
Meanwhile, all three Indian fast bowlers contributed as they wrecked havoc in Australia's batting order. The home team had no answers to some classy fast bowling on a pitch offering plenty of pace and bounce.
Bumrah picked up the first three wickets while Rana got the fourth wicket in the form of travis Head. It was an excellent bowling performance from India who allowed their team to come back into the match. Australia were 67-7 at stumps on Day 1.
Australia restrict India to a low score
Earlier, India had been bowled out for just 150. None of the Indian batters could reach the fifty-run mark on a day earmarked for the bowlers from both the sides. Debutant Nitish Kumar Reddy shone with the bat for India as he top-scored with a vital 41 off 59 balls.
Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant also contributed well with magnificent 37 off 78 balls. Josh Hazlewood was the pick of the bowlers for Australia as he picked up 4 wickets. Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, and Mitchell Marsh picked up two wickets each.
