Harshit Rana finally brought some relief for Kolkata Knight Riders by breaking the crucial partnership between Nicholas Pooran and Abdul Samad in the ongoing 21st game of the IPL 2025 against Lucknow Super Giants at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Tuesday, April 8.
Harshit Rana bowled a clever off-cutter that was pitched fuller, completely deceiving Abdul Samad. The Lucknow Super Giants batter went for a big shot but mistimed it badly and was way too early on the swing. The ball sneaked through and crashed into the stumps.
Rana has not only dismissed Samad but also managed to keep the dangerous Nicholas Pooran off strike for two crucial deliveries. Samad walked back to the pavilion after scoring 6 runs off 4 balls, which included one boundary against the KKR in the ongoing IPL 2025 clash.

Mitchell Marsh shine with the bat against KKR
Earlier in the match, Harshit Rana also ended the threatening opening stand by cleaning up Aiden Markram in the 11th over of LSG’s innings in Kolkata. It was a clever slower ball, an off-cutter that completely outfoxed the South African batter.
Markram went for a push but was beaten by the variation, and the ball crashed into the stumps, as his stunning knock of 47 runs off 28 balls laced with four boundaries and two sixes ended in disbelief. However, Markram had done his job, giving his team a strong platform for a big total.
He added 99 runs for the opening stand with Mitchell Marsh, who also played a blistering knock of 81 runs off 48 balls to help Lucknow Super Giants post a challenging total of 238/3 on the board against the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens on Tuesday.
Rana starred with the ball, taking two wickets for 51 runs in four overs against the LSG in Kolkata. Andre Russell also got a crucial wicket of Mitchell Marsh in the match. Chasing the target, the KKR didn’t have a great start as their opener, Quinton de Kock, was removed for just 15 runs.
Sunil Narine and Ajinkya Rahane join hands to stablize KKR's innings in the IPL 2025 clash against LSG
However, Sunil Narine and captain Ajinkya Rahane stabilized KKR’s innings with 54 runs off 23 balls for the second wicket before Digvesh Rathi dismissed the West Indies all-rounder. Rathi dismissed the dangerous Narine at a crucial moment.
Rathi tempted Narine into a big shot with a well-disguised googly outside off stump. Narine went for the hit but didn’t get enough power behind it, and Aiden Markram, stationed at long-off, moved to his right and completed a stunning sliding catch.
Narine walked back after a quick-fire knock of 30 runs off just 13 balls, laced with four boundaries and two sixes against the LSG. Rathi has now become Rishabh Pant’s go-to bowler in the ongoing IPL 2025, taking wickets just when LSG needed a breakthrough.
Notably, KKR posted the second highest power play score (90/1) against the LSG in the IPL. Their 105/0 against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru remains the highest power play score in the IPL.
