Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir hosted a special dinner at his New Delhi residence ahead of the second and final Test against the West Indies. The event drew attention online when fast bowler Harshit Rana was initially absent, sparking a social media stir, which ended when he arrived in a BMW.
The second Test against the West Indies is scheduled to commence at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Friday, October 10. Notably, the Shubman Gill-led team secured an innings and 140-run victory at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, gaining crucial points in the World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle.

Gautam Gambhir hosted a special dinner for Team India at his Delhi residence on October 8. Players and support staff were seen together ahead of their upcoming tour of Australia. The entire contingent, dressed casually, arrived at Gambhir’s Rajinder Nagar home by bus.
Among those present were captain Shubman Gill, Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul, Dhruv Jurel, Axar Patel, Prasidh Krishna, assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate, and bowling coach Morne Morkel. BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla was also in attendance.
Social media briefly buzzed with jokes about the apparent absence of Harshit Rana, who was not seen arriving with the group. However, the Delhi pacer later arrived in a BMW, ending the online chatter.

Rana, who is part of both the ODI and T20I squads for the Australia tour, is expected to join his teammates during their departure for the series.

Rana has struggled to justify the faith shown in him by the team management. After breaking into the Indian side following an impressive IPL 2024 under Gautam Gambhir’s mentorship at Kolkata Knight Riders, the young pacer has failed to deliver consistent results.
Rana managed only four wickets in two Tests during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at an average of 50.75. He has been expensive in white-ball formats, conceding over 10 runs per over in IPL 2025. His Asia Cup campaign also disappointed, with just two wickets for 79 runs in two outings.

Shubman Gill’s side made a perfect start to the Test series with a dominant all-round display. India’s pace attack dismantled the visitors, restricting them to a modest 162 in 44.1 overs. Mohammed Siraj was the best performer with four wickets, stopping the opposition from settling into a rhythm.
In reply, KL Rahul smashed his 11th Test century with a composed 100 off 197 balls. Dhruv Jurel played a knock of 125, and Ravindra Jadeja remained unbeaten on 104. They helped India reach a massive total of 448/5 before declaring after 128 overs.
The visitors once again faltered in their second innings, collapsing for just 146 runs. Jadeja shone with the ball this time, picking up four wickets. India stamped their authority on the series, showcasing dominance in all departments under Gill’s leadership.
