Adelaide Strikers and Perth Scorchers are currently up against each other in the 17th game of the ongoing Big Bash League 2024-25 (BBL 2024-25) at the Adelaide Oval in Adelaide. Perth Scorchers won the toss and invited Adelaide Strikers to bat first in the BBL 14 clash on December 31.

During the Perth Scorchers’ chase, Jamie Overton nearly made history with a rare act in the Big Bash League, as he attempted to Mankad Finn Allen at the bowler's end at Adelaide. This incident unfolded in the 8th over of Perth Scorchers’ batting against Adelaide Strikers.

Before delivering the fifth ball of the 8th over, Jamie Overton almost Mankaded Finn Allen at the bowler's end. As Allen left his crease too early when the Strikers were about to deliver the ball, Overton quickly turned in to the non-striker’s end to dislodge the bails in the ongoing BBL 14 clash in Adelaide.

But instead of making the appeal, Jamie Overton issued a warning, giving Finn Allen a second chance in the ongoing BBL 2024-25 clash in Adelaide. If Overton had gone through with the appeal, Allen would have been sent packing, adding an interesting chapter to the BBL’s history. Jamie Overton and Allen also engaged in heated exchanges several times during the match.

When the incident happened, Finn Allen was batting at 38 runs, and he could add 12 more runs before being bowled out by Brendan Doggett. Allen was the top scorer for the Scorchers with 50 runs off 23 balls, laced with four boundaries and three sixes against the Strikers in Adelaide.
