Rohit Sharma retired from T20I cricket; pulls Suryakumar Yadav's leg at the facilitation ceremony
Notably, the Men in Blue crushed South Africa by seven runs in the 2024 T20 World Cup final to lift the ICC Cup after 11 years. It was India’s second T20 World Cup title in 17 years after their triumph in the inaugural edition of the tournament under MS Dhoni’s captaincy in 2007.
However, Rohit, along with Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja, have announced their retirement from T20I cricket after winning the T20 World Cup 2024 last week. Recently, the Indian skipper hilariously reacted to Suryakumar Yadav’s iconic catch of David Miller to turn the match in India’s favor.
Rohit said at the facilitation ceremony arranged by Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde: “Jaise ki Surya ne bola ki uske haath mei ball baitha. Accha hua ball Surya ke haath main baitha, warna aage jakar main usko bitha deta (like Surya mentioned, the ball sat in his hand; good that it did; otherwise, I would have made him sit later.”
Recently, Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde felicitated T20 World Cup 2024 champions Rohit, Suryakumar, Shivam Dube, and Yashasvi Jaiswal, who all represent Mumbai in domestic cricket.
