West Indies had a shabby day at the field during the first T20I against Australia at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart. They won the toss and invited Australia to bat first but the decision severely backfired as David Warner and Josh Inglis added 93 runs for the opening wicket and then in the end Tim David finished the innings in some style as he scored 37 off just 17 deliveries with four boundaries and two sixes. David Warner on the other hand gave a perfect start as he smashed 70 off 36 deliveries in the match.

West Indies were terrible with their fielding in this match as they missed silly catches and fielding opportunities. Australia took all the benefits of their terrible fielding and scored 213 against the West Indies in the ongoing first Test. During the 19th over of the Australian innings, Tim David mistimed a ball that went in between the deep mid-wicket and deep square leg and both the fielders were stranded looking at each other not even attempting for the catch that could have been an easy dismissal.

Alzarri Joseph who was bowling the 19th over was livid with his team’s poor fielding and gave a long death stare to the fielders on deep mid-wicket and deep square-leg. West Indies dropped a lot of opportunities in the field today and faced a lot of problems because of their poor fielding today and as a result, they received a thrashing from the Aussie batters.

Australia posted 213/6 in their innings as David Warner smashed 70 off 36 deliveries with 12 boundaries and a six to his name. He becomes the first Australian to represent his nation in 100+ matches in all three formats and also the first batter to score a fifty-plus in his 100th Test, ODI, and T20I appearance. However, Tim David’s cameo hurt West Indies the most and his catch miss during the 19th over was bizarre.

West Indies is coming into this T20I series after suffering a whitewash against Australia in the ODIs where they were defeated 3-0 by the ODI World Champions. The two-match Test series between the two teams ended in a draw of 1-1 as the Caribbeans pulled off a sensational victory at the Gabba in Brisbane and defeated Australia after 27 years in Australia in a Test match. Shamar Joseph was the star in that game for West Indies as he took seven wickets in the second innings of Australia.

Shamar Joseph was not included in the ODI and T20I squad due to workload issues. He bowled in the second Test with an injured toe and as a fitness concern, he was not included in the ODI and T20I series. Australia is cruising towards victory in the first T20I which is being played in Hobart. The Aussies have been a dominant force in cricket and they are playing like one against the Men in Maroon.
