Mumbai Indians batter Rohit Sharma made sure that he got involved in the game against Lucknow Super Giants even though he isn't part of the playing XI. The match between the two teams in the IPL 2025 is taking place at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.

Rohit Sharma, who missed the game, was on the field when Mumbai Indians came under pressure. This was because Lucknow Super Giants openers Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram were all over the Hardik Pandya-led side with the bat.

During the timeout, Rohit Sharma, along with the other support staff of Mumbai Indians, walked out to give inputs to the team. However, what caught the attention of many was he was seen giving captaincy lessons to Suryakumar Yadav and not skipper Hardik Pandya.

Rohit Sharma wasn't fit to play in the ongoing game against Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Skipper Hardik Pandya, at the toss, mentioned that the senior batter was hit on the knees during the net session and, hence, wasn't declared fit to play in the match.

Mumbai Indians didn't have the kind of outing they would've wanted with the ball

Coming to the match, Mumbai Indians didn't have the kind of outing they would've wanted with the ball. Mitchell Marsh put them under pressure in the powerplay as he slammed a 27-ball fifty to take his team off to a flying start with the bat, ending the knock of 60 runs.

Aiden Markram also came up with a magical inning as he hit his maiden fifty for the Lucknow Super Giants. The right-hander played a solid knock of 53 runs that kept the run rate in check as Mumbai Indians bowlers looked under immense pressure.

Ayush Badoni (30) and David Miller (27), in the end, came up with decent hands with the bat as the Rishabh Pant-led side posted a total past 203 runs on the board. For Mumbai Indians, Hardik Pandya was the pick of the bowlers as he bagged his maiden fifer in the league.

Hardik Pandya returned with the figures of 5/35

Hardik Pandya returned with the figures of 5/35 while apart from him, Trent Boult, Ashwani Kumar, and Vignesh Puthur also bagged one scalp. Thanks to their effort, Lucknow Super Giants ended with a total of 203 runs, which at one stage looked to be going past 230 runs.

Mumbai Indians, in the chase, didn't have a great start as they lost both the openers in Will Jacks (5) and Ryan Rickelton (10). The onus now will be Suryakumar Yadav, Naman Dhir, Tilak Varma and skipper Hardik Pandya to their team to the second consecutive win in the league.
