The IPL 2025 game between the Punjab Kings and the Delhi Capitals was suddenly cancelled after 10.1 overs in the first innings at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala on Thursday, May 8.
The official broadcasters stated that the match was called off due to a “significant technical failure at the HPCA Stadium.”
On the other hand, the BCCI stated, “Due to a power outage in the area, one of the light towers at the HPCA stadium malfunctioned.
BCCI regrets the inconvenience caused to the in-stadium attendees.” But the real reason behind the chaos was Pakistan’s attack across the Indian border.
Red alert forces sudden cancellation of PBKS vs DC IPL 2025 Match in Dharamsala
Later, Chairman Arun Dhumal confirmed that the PBKS vs DC match was “called off as a precautionary measure, based on the red alert issued in Jammu.”
The BCCI didn’t want to create panic among the fans, and that’s why they cited technical failure behind the blackout at the stadium so that the public, along with the players and the entire unit, could be evacuated safely.
A blackout hit the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala after air raid sirens went off in nearby cities like Jammu and Pathankot, according to media reports.
The alerts were part of safety measures taken as tensions continue to rise along the India-Pakistan border.
