DC and SRH stars engage in the IPL Super Sixes competition

This competition's purpose is to bring extra entertainment to the league and give players a chance to display their raw hitting skills. Each participating team nominates a minimum of two or a maximum of three batsmen for the IPL Super Sixes challenge, and each nominated batsman gets a set number of attempts (usually 1 or 2 balls) to hit the longest possible six.

Notably, the balls are delivered by a bowling machine, and players also get a chance to play practice balls before their official attempts. The player who manages to hit the longest six wins a cash prize, and at the end of the season, the overall longest six-hitter is awarded a larger prize.

In the 55th match of the ongoing season, Jake Fraser-McGurk and Sameer Rizvi represented Delhi Capitals, while Aniket Verma and Abhinav Manohar represented Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL Super Sixes competition.

Both SRH batters - Abhinav Manohar (93) and Aniket Verma (91) - hit sixes of over 90 meters, while DC batters Jake Fraser-McGurk and Sameer Rizvi hit 80-meter and 82-meter sixes, respectively. Abhinav Manohar won the IPL Super Sixes challenge between the teams as he hit the 93m six, which was the longest.

SRH vs DC clash gets washed out

Opting to bowl first in the SRH vs DC match, Pat Cummins ran riot with his three-wicket haul and reduced DC to 26/4 inside the powerplay. They kept the pressure on but faced slight trouble dealing with Tristan Stubbs and Ashutosh Sharma, as DC posted 133/7 on the board.

Other than Pat Cummins, Eshan Malinga, Harshal Patel, and Jaydev Unadkat got one wicket each. Meanwhile, the second innings was unable to start due to rain, and the match was washed out, with SRH being knocked out of the playoffs race.

Speaking ahead of the game, SRH batter Heinrich Klaasen expressed his surprise over the support from the crowd in IPL 2025 despite the poor performance of the team. He said:

"Sometimes you have to be like an ice baby just to stay in your zone and keep the people out. The crowd support despite the performances has been fantastic and I know there are a few home games left. It will be loud again. It was unbelievable the last time we played here. I feel that the fans will show up again today.

"It looks calm above the water but underneath the surface, you scramble sometimes. It comes with experience knowing what you can and can't do. A lot of games I have across the formats and that helps in calculating the risks I want to take. I got my game plan sorted out. In my position you have to be a little bit flexible with that but we have to try everything again."

While talking about the inconsistent season of SRH, Heinrich Klaasen said that they got themselves into a bad position while trying to play ultra-aggressive cricket in IPL 2025. He elaborated:

"The brand of cricket that we want to play at the start of the competition was quite a high risk brand and we didn't get normally the wickets that we get and we didn't adjust to find a way to win games. We just got stuck into one way of playing and that got us in a little bit of bad situation. Winning is a habit as well so we didn't get to win. Losing is also a habit so we need to find ways to win those small margins and the 1 % that we are not doing now.

"We owe it to the fans, the owners. Just to turn our season a little bit around and give them something to smile about."
