Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan took a brilliant catch to dismiss the Delhi Capitals (DC) star batsman KL Rahul on Monday, May 5.
With the dismissal of KL Rahul, Delhi Capitals collapsed to 29/5 in the 55th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
KL Rahul fails with the bat
Rahul walked in to bat in the 3rd over of the innings itself as the opening pair of Karun Nair and Faf du Plessis failed miserably and were dismissed by the Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper Pat Cummins.
KL Rahul, who has looked in good form in IPL 2025, would have wanted to lead the rescue charge, but he failed to do that. The star batter's innings ended in the 8th over of the innings, and Delhi Capitals lost half their side for the score of 29.
On the first ball of the eighth over, left-arm pacer Jaydev Unadkat bowled a full delivery angling into the off-stump from around the stumps to KL Rahul.
The ball hit the pitch and moved away slightly. Rahul was caught in his crease trying to drive on the up, and the ball took a healthy outside edge and flew quickly and low towards Ishan Kishan, who dived to complete an excellent catch.
Rahul shook his head in disappointment as he walked back after scoring 10 runs off 14 balls, with one boundary.

KL Rahul has been a little bit inconsistent - Katey Martin
Speaking on ESPNCricinfo ahead of the match, former cricketer Katey Martin highlighted the importance of the match against SRH for DC and said that KL Rahul has been inconsistent with his performances. She elaborated:
"No, they can't afford to lose against SRH. It's sort of that back end of the tournament, isn't it? You want to have a bit of momentum and they started off so strongly through the middle phase.
"They've sort of just pegged back a little bit, like you said, but I think what happens when you get to this phase of the tournament, people start working out what you're trying to do against them, what your typical strengths are as a bowling unit, especially, which is where they've dropped off, that I think people have started to work out how to score against them. And then KL Rahul has been a little bit inconsistent of late as well in terms of batting.
"So much of their batting has relied around how he goes and being the linchpin of that. So then there's probably a couple of areas for me where they need to look to improve on."
Meanwhile, former cricketer Ambati Rayudu said that the Delhi Capitals are yet to deliver a collective performance in IPL 2025. He explained:
"I think so ( DC are yet to have a collective outing). And also it depends on the kind of wickets that they're getting. If the wickets are generally slow or they are not really good for batting, that's where they have done well, if you look at Delhi.
"But if they're good for batting, then they don't have the power in their batting line-up to really match up to a lot of other teams. And also Starc and Kuldeep Yadav go out of the equation when the wickets are flat. So that's where they have struggled. And I think it totally depends on the wicket that will be given at Hyderabad. If it is flat, then Delhi will be struggling. But if it is slow or if it's slightly turning, then maybe they'll be in the game."
