Ishant Sharma is known for his fiery and weird celebrations, and the story was not different when his Gujarat Titans team locked horns with Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the 14th match of the ongoing IPL 2025 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Wednesday, April 2.

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain Rajat Patidar was trapped right in front, and the umpire raised his finger without hesitation. Ishant Sharma roared in celebration as Patidar looked stunned during the duel between the RCB and Gujarat Titans in Bengaluru.

It was a delivery pitched just fuller than a good length around middle and leg. Patidar tried to play across the line but missed entirely, getting hit on the back leg. The umpire raised his finger right away, and Ishant erupted in celebration as GT took the upper hand in the match against the RCB.

However, the only doubt was whether the ball was too high, but the umpire was confident that it was crashing straight into the stumps, and Patidar had to walk back to the pavilion after scoring 12 runs from 12 balls, including two boundaries, against the Titans in Bengaluru.

After taking Patidar’s wicket, Ishant was seen pumped up while looking at the sky, seemingly thanking the god for his grace. As the RCB captain was heading back to the dressing room, Ishant's shoulder appeared to brush against Patidar’s shoulder.

However, neither player reacted to the contact, but Ishant has probably given him some mouthful treatment. Going into the GT pacer’s lip movement, Ishant said f**k to Patidar before joining his teammates to celebrate the key wicket at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Ishant Sharma scripts history in the IPL with rare RCB double

Meanwhile, Ishant Sharma has scripted history after dismissing Patidar. The seasoned pacer achieved the rate milestone of dismissing the two captains of the same team in the history of the IPL. Back in 2008, during the inaugural IPL season, the lanky pacer had dismissed then-RCB captain Rahul Dravid in the very first over of his spell.

At that time, Ishant was playing for Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) in the IPL. Fast forward to 2025, Ishant repeated history by claiming the wicket of current RCB captain Patidar and became the first and only player to dismiss captains of the same franchise in the history of the tournament.

GT extends perfect chase record with 8-wicket win over RCB

Notably, Gujarat Titans comfortably chased down 170 runs with 13 balls to spare, handing Royal Challengers Bengaluru an 8-wicket defeat at their home ground in Bengaluru.

This victory marks GT’s second-biggest win while chasing in terms of wickets remaining, following their 9-wicket triumph against the Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur in 2023, where they had 37 balls left.

Interestingly, all six encounters between GT and RCB have been won by the chasing side, with both teams claiming three victories each. Well, RCB will next face Mumbai Indians on April 7, while GT will take on Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 6 in their next games in the IPL 2025.
