The Rohit Sharma-led team bowled out Prime Minister XI for 240 runs after winning the toss at the Manuka Oval on Sunday, December 1. Harshit Rana was the pick of the bowlers for India, taking four wickets for 44 runs in his six overs, while other bowlers chipped in with useful contributions with the ball.
Watch: Jack Nisbet Attempts to Injure Yashasvi Jaiswal
Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul, who opened together in the Perth Test match, came to the crease in the first innings. Skipper Rohit Sharma didn't come to bat as an opener despite being part of the squad. It looks like Jaiswal and Rahul could open in the upcoming match, with Rohit in the middle order.
On the fourth ball of the sixth over in India's innings, Jack Nisbet bowled a short ball to Yashasvi Jaiswal, who tried to move out of the way but ended up being hit on the body after misjudging the delivery. Nisbet gave him a stare after hurting the left-handed batter.

Yashasvi Jaiswal Dismissed for 45 Runs in Practice Match
Jaiswal added a 75-run opening partnership with KL Rahul during the run chase. However, the left-handed batter fell five runs short of his half-century in the match. He was dismissed by Charlie Anderson after scoring 45 runs off 59 balls with nine fours. He attempted a big shot but mistimed it.
The 22-year-old batter was dismissed for a duck in the first innings of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 series opener. However, he scored 161 runs in the second innings to put his team in a dominant position. The Indian team secured a 295-run victory and took a 1-0 lead in the series.
Let’s See Some Energy And Intent With Bat And Ball - Mitchell Johnson
Former Australian cricketer Mitchell Johnson expressed his frustration with Australia's lack of fight during the first Test against India in Perth. He stated that debutant Yashasvi Jaiswal sledging Mitchell Starc was unacceptable on their home turf.
"As an outsider watching on, I want to see some fight from this Australian side. Not a debutant and a young opening batsman from India getting in the faces of our team on our own turf and sledging Mitchell Starc saying he’s bowling too slow. Let’s see some energy and intent with bat and ball, but even more so in the field where it was clearly lacking at Optus Stadium," Johnson wrote in his column for The West Australian.
