India’s hopes of making a good start to their run-chase of 420 in the fourth innings of the ongoing Test match against England took a body-blow as they lost opener Rohit Sharma in just the 6th over.
Rohit Sharma endured his second failure of the match. The Indian swashbuckling opener had managed a mere six runs in the first innings before he was dismissed by Jofra Archer courtesy of a delivery that bounced appreciably and at pace and the opener could only manage to nick it to keeper Jos Buttler.
Come the second innings, Rohit took the attack to Archer courtesy of his trademark pull strokes.
But just as it looked like the ‘Hitman’ was warming up for a big knock, he was undone by an arm ball by Jack Leach.
Rohit’s wicket has come as a body-blow for Team India given the opener’s brilliant record on home soil and his penchant to score daddy hundreds and at a brisk pace.
At the time of writing, Cheteshwar Pujara and Shubman Gill, who has thus far stroked three boundaries in his 14, are at the crease with the score reading 1/31 after 6.2 overs.
