James Anderson signed off from Test cricket in style after the England vs West Indies 1st Test at Lord's. James Anderson took the wicket of Joshua Da Silva in the 2nd innings, which became his final victim in international cricket.

Notably, James Anderson announced he will retire from Tests after the England vs West Indies 1st Test in Lord's in London. The right-arm pacer made his debut long back in 2002 with an ODI match against Australia. He served the England team for more than 22 years and finished as the most successful seamer in international cricket.

In the England vs West Indies 1st Test, the right-arm seamer picked 1 wicket in the 1st innings for 26 runs. Notably, the veteran pacer got the final wicket in the 1st innings and was hailed by the stadium, all of whom stood up to cheer for him.

Later, Anderson took 3 wickets for 32 runs in the 2nd innings, picking a total of 4 wickets in the match. He dismissed Jayden Seales in the 1st innings and West Indies wicketkeeper Joshua Da Silva was his last wicket in the match.

Notably, the England pacer ended with 704 wickets in 188 Test matches and has ended as the third-highest wicket-taker in the longest format. Notably, late Shane Warne has 708 Test wickets while Muttiah Muralitharan has 800 wickets and takes the top two spots.

Interestingly, Anderson has ended as the most successful pacer in the Test format with 704 scalps in 350 innings. His best bowling show is 7/42 while he has held an average of 26.45. His partner Stuart Broad, who ended his career in The Ashes 2023 last year, takes the 5th spot with 604 wickets and is the next seamer on the list.

Overall in his career, Anderson has finished with 991 wickets in 401 matches in Tests, ODI, and T20Is at an average of 27.28. He accounts for 269 scalps in ODIs and 18 scalps in T20Is. However, he left both formats in 2015 and 2009 respectively.

England crush West Indies in Anderson's last match

Meanwhile, England also ended on a winning note in the last game of James Anderson. The Ben Stokes & Co. outplayed West Indies by an innings and 114 runs. West Indies were bowled out for just 121 and 136 in 1st and 2nd innings.

England piled up 391-10 in the 1st innings and the lone innings they had to bat and it was enough to outplay the visitors in the match. However, Jimmy Anderson was not the best bowler in the game.

Gus Atkinson grabbed 7 wickets in the 1st innings and 5 wickets in the 2nd innings to capture a total of 12 wickets in the match. He was also awarded the player of the match for his ground-breaking show.
