Team India pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah expressed his frustration during the third Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) against Australia. Jasprit Bumrah admitted the conditions at the Gabba in Brisbane weren't offering any swing, and it turned out to be a frustrating day for Indian fans.

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma decided to bowl first after winning the toss in the third Test match against Australia on Saturday, December 14. However, Rohit's decision proved not helpful for the visiting team as the pacers failed to generate the expected swing in the overcast conditions in the first session.

During the fourth over, Indian players raised concerns about the ball and asked the umpire to inspect it. The ball passed the gauge and was returned to Mohammed Siraj. In the following over, Jasprit Bumrah struggled to find swing, and he expressed his frustration as the ball wasn't swinging much.

“Nahi ho raha swing, kahin bhi kar (There is no swing no matter where you bowl)," Bumrah was heard over the stump microphone while heading to his bowling mark.

Usman Khawaja and Nathan McSweeney Remain Unbeaten Before Rain Interruption

Australian openers Usman Khawaja and Nathan McSweeney looked in control in the first session. They scored 28 runs for the loss of no wickets in the 13.2 overs bowled in the morning session. Persistent rain and heavy showers led to an early lunch. It is likely the second session of the day will be washed out.

In the first session, Nathan McSweeney scored 4 runs, while Usman Khawaja added 19 off 47 balls. Jasprit Bumrah bowled six overs, including three maidens, conceding only eight runs. Akash Deep, who replaced Harshit Rana, bowled 3.2 overs and conceded just two runs before rain interrupted play.

My Only Concern Would Be Jasprit Bumrah's Fitness - Sunil Joshi

Former Indian spinner Sunil Joshi said that pacer Prasidh Krishna could provide support for Bumrah in the remainder of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. In an interview with TOI, Joshi expressed concern about Bumrah's fitness and emphasized the importance of managing his workload.

"Moving forward, my only concern would be Jasprit Bumrah's fitness because we saw him having a niggle in the Adelaide Test. Given that scenario, it's important how well the Indian think tank is going to utilise Jasprit Bumrah for the remaining Test matches. India can always look at Prasidh Krishna who is a very good fast bowler and tall as well, and he played the Duleep Trophy matches with full fitness. So that's an option," Joshi said.

Prasidh Krishna has played only two Tests for India, both during their recent tour of South Africa. He also impressed in the Australia A matches before the Test series. He took 10 wickets at an average of 17.30. The ongoing five-match Test series between India and Australia is balanced 1-1.
