Jasprit Bumrah, on Saturday (February 3), castled Ollie Pope with an absolutely stunning yorker in the first innings of the ongoing second Test between India and England in Vishakhapatnam.

After being bowled out for 396 earlier in the day, India were firmly on the back foot as England made a solid start with the bat. Openers Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett added 59 runs for the first wicket before the former and Pope took the score past the 100-run mark. Crawley was hitting boundaries at will as England were scoring at almost 5 runs an over.

At 114 for 1, the tourists were firmly on the front foot before Axar Patel gave India the much-needed breakthrough. The left-arm spinner dismissed a well-set Crawley. The right-handed batsman departed after scoring 76 runs off just 78 balls with the help of 11 fours and 2 sixes.

As soon as India got the breakthrough, Rohit Sharma introduced Jasprit Bumrah into the attack and the fast bowler turned the game on its head by taking two wickets in quick succession. In his second after being reintroduced into the attack, he dismissed Joe Root for 5. The India pace spearhead troubled the England star with his line and length before eventually forcing him to edge one to Shubman Gill at first slip.

And in his third over, he came up with an absolutely toe-crushing inswinging yorker to send back Pope. The England batsman was well set and had already faced 54 deliveries but was beaten all ends up by the yorker. The middle and leg stump were uprooted as Pope looked perplexed before making his way out of the field. The right-handed batsman, who had scored 196 in the second innings of the first Test, departed after scoring 23.

Watch:

At the time of writing this report, England were on 138 for 4 after 30 overs with Ben Stokes and Jonny Bairstow at the crease. Earlier in the game, Yashasvi Jaiswal’s maiden double-century in Tests propelled India to 396. The opener scored 209 runs off 290 balls with the help of 19 fours and 7 sixes. No other Indian player could even reach the 40-run mark.
