After that ten balls from hell was unleashed by Jasprit Bumrah on James Anderson during England’s first innings, one thought that things will heat up once the Indian pacer comes to bat in the second innings.
And, that is exactly what happened on the fifth morning of the Lord’s Test as England restored to a volley of bumpers against the Indian tail, especially Bumrah.
Things got heated up following a verbal altercation, first between Jasprit Bumrah and Mark Wood and then between the latter and England stumper Jos Buttler.
Wood returned for his next over and he immediately dished out a short ball which Jasprit Bumrah looked to pull but ended up getting a thick outside edge that ran away past the point boundary.
The boundary was applauded by skipper Virat Kohli who looked absolutely charged up as he hurled a few expletives.
The theatre got even more intense when Wood followed up with yet another bumper and this time it struck Jasprit Bumrah on his helmet, forcing him to undergo a concussion test.
Bumrah may have been hit by a bumper but he is having the last laugh at the crease. The Indian pacer has added valuable 38 runs for the 10th wicket with Mohammed Shami and the lead had swelled past 215.
