India vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah oozed his class with the bat in the ongoing fifth Test of the series against England. The last game of the five-match series between the teams is taking place at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala.

Jasprit Bumrah got an opportunity to bat in the last session of the Day 2 of the ongoing game against England. After India lost a few quick wickets, it was expected that the hosts would wrap up the Indian innings quickly and bat again during the last hour of the game.

But it wasn’t the case as Jasprit Bumrah stood like a wall on the crease and along with Kuldeep Yadav made sure that India ended Day 2 on high and took a lead of over 250 runs. The fast bowler didn’t put a foot wrong with the bat in his innings during the fag end of the Day 2.

Jasprit Bumrah defended the ball pretty well and timed the ball to perfection. Apart from defending the ball, he played some glorious shots in his innings and hit a few boundaries as well that kept the crowd going and entertained them.

While he batted with complete control, one shot in his innings caught the attention of many. It was during the first ball of the 118th over when Mark Wood bowled a full fiery delivery outside off stump to Jasprit Bumrah.

The Indian vice-captain leaned into the shot and played a drive wide of mid-off. The ball raced away to the boundary and it lifted the crowd. After the ball reached the boundary, the entire Indian dressing room including head coach Rahul Dravid were in awe of the shot and applauded it.

Here’s the video:

Jasprit Bumrah remained unbeaten at 19 runs off 55 balls at the stumps on Day 2. He added an unbeaten 47 runs with Kuldeep Yadav (27*) and helped India take a lead of 255 runs on the board. India ended the Day with 473/8 and took command of the game.

Earlier in the Day, skipper, Rohit Sharma (103) and Shubman Gill (110) slammed blistering centuries at the top and added 174 runs together. Before Sarfaraz Khan (56) and Devdutt Padikkal (65) chipped in and hit valiant half-centuries for the team in the middle order.

Jasprit Bumrah to play vital role for India with ball

Jasprit Bumrah will be vital for a team with the ball in the second innings. India has already taken a lead of over 255 runs and there are high chances that the hosts won’t bag again. For that, the vice-captain will have to play a massive role with the ball for the team.

Jasprit Bumrah has been absolutely brilliant with the ball in the ongoing series. The fast bowler has taken 17 wickets so far in the series at an average of just over 16. He was exceptional with the new ball in the first innings and would want to step up for the team in the second essay and help his side win the game and end the series with 4-1.
