In a surprising moment, West Indies fast bowler Jayden Seales hit Team India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal with his throw during the second and final Test match between the two teams. The incident took place during India’s first innings on Day 1 (Friday, October 10) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Team India won the toss and chose to bat first during the second Test. The hosts, led by Shubman Gill, had already secured a victory in the first Test in Ahmedabad, winning by an innings and 140 runs. India remain unbeaten against the West Indies in the longer format of international cricket since 2002.

India scored 94 runs for the loss of one wicket in 28 overs before the lunch break. KL Rahul, who scored 38 off 54 balls, was the lone wicket to fall. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rahul laid a solid foundation, showing patience and composure against the new ball, while the West Indies needed to regroup for a stronger attack.

On the fifth ball of the 29th over, Jayden Seales hit Yashasvi Jaiswal with the throw. After Jaiswal drove a delivery straight down the ground, Seales picked up the ball and, in his follow-through, threw it back in frustration. The ball hit Jaiswal’s front pad, and Seales immediately apologized for the incident.

Yashasi Jaiswal Hit Jayden Seals For Three Boundaries

Jaiswal hit Jayden Seales for three boundaries through the off-side in quick succession to reach his half-century. Seales attempted to adjust by bowling around the wicket and delivering dot balls, but Jaiswal punished a full-length delivery with a drive through covers to complete his fifty.

Earlier in the first session, KL Rahul and Jaiswal started cautiously, showing patience and composure against the new ball. They added a 58-run partnership for the first wicket, helping India settle in after captain Shubman Gill chose to bat first.

By the end of the first session after lunch, Jaiswal remained unbeaten on 40 off 78 balls, with Sai Sudharsan at the other end. He combined patience with aggression, ensuring India navigated the early overs safely while laying the foundation for a strong first-innings total.

Yashasvi Jaiswal continued his aggressive approach after reaching his fifty. He attacked Jayden Seales’ deliveries in the slot and drove another cover shot for a boundary to start the bowler’s next over.

The left-handed batter looked set to add more runs, but a brilliant fielding effort by John Campbell denied him another boundary.

India capitalized on the momentum, scoring 29 runs in the first four overs of the session. Jaiswal was the main contributor, hitting five boundaries in quick succession. At the end of 32 overs, he remained unbeaten on 64 off 94 balls, with India’s score at 123 for 1.
