RCB wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma tried to run out the former CSK captain MS Dhoni in a bizarre attempt during the match between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Chepauk. However, his attempt went in vain as Dhoni was well inside the crease.
During the last ball of the 16th over, Liam Livingstone bowled a legbreak to MS Dhoni, which the latter defended with a forward push. After Dhoni defended the ball, it rose high after bouncing on the pitch once.
Wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma tried to push the ball towards the stumps while anticipating that Dhoni might go outside his crease at some point. However, neither did Dhoni go outside his crease, nor did the ball come close to hitting the stumps.

It was the same over in which Dhoni had come out to bat early. He looked to survive the over and successfully did that. Bowler Liam Livingstone also shared a smile after the end of the over.
Jitesh Sharma slammed for his comments on MS Dhoni
Jitesh Sharma was recently involved in a controversy regarding his comments on MS Dhoni. He was asked during a podcast about his idol. While most of the wicketkeepers in India have Dhoni as their idol, Jitesh picked Adam Gilchrist.
An old video of Jitesh went viral in which he was heard claiming MS Dhoni as his idol. As a result, the sudden change in his thinking didn't go down well with CSK fans, and he was brutally trolled on social media.
The CSK and Dhoni fans claimed that Jitesh's thinking changed suddenly after joining RCB. CSK and RCB share an unprecedented rivalry, and their fans are often at loggerheads with each other.
MS Dhoni's cameo was unable to take RCB to win
Dhoni came in to bat at No. 9 during the match, even below Ravichandran Ashwin. The legendary finisher hardly tried to take his team to victory as it had already become an uphill task by that point.
His demotion in the batting order was criticised by some of the former cricketers who claimed that Dhoni should have come higher to give his team the best shot at winning the game.
The 43-year-old smashed 30 off just 16 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes. He smashed 2 fours and the penultimate over of the match, bowled by Josh Hazlewood, and then smashed 2 sixes and a four in the last over of the innings, bowled by Krunal Pandya.
Although he entertained the crowd in the end with a few lusty blows, he was unable to take his side closer to the victory. Apart from his batting exploits, Dhoni also effected a brilliant stumping for the big wicket of Phil Salt.
RCB finally won the match by 50 runs and created history by winning their first match in Chennai in 17 years. Their last victory at Chepauk came way back in the inaugural edition in 2008.
