Former Pakistan cricketer Rashid Latif has come up with a highly objectionable remark while criticizing Pakistan for their dismal performance against England in the recently-concluded first Test against England.

Pakistan suffered an embarrassing innings defeat as their disastrous performance in Tests continued. Batting first, Pakistan piled up a big total of 556 runs.

Captain Shan Masood played a fine knock of 151 runs while Abdullah Shafique (102) and Salman Ali Agha (104*) scored centuries as well. The big first innings total, however, could not avoid another humiliating defeat at home for Pakistan.

England came up with a stunning batting display as they declared their first innings on 823/7. Harry Brook and Joe Root toyed with the Pakistan attack as they scored triple century and double century respectively. Brook scored 317 runs while Root played a stunning knock of 262 runs.

With England's innings ending on day four, the match looked set to end in a draw. However, Pakistan's batters capitulated in a spectacular fashion in the second innings. Even before the fourth day ended, the hosts lost six wickets. They were reeling at 82 for 6 before Agha Salman and Aamer Jamal saw off the remaining overs.

They went on to add 109 runs for the seventh wicket but could not bat Pakistan to safety. In the end, the home side was bowled out for 220 runs as England won the game by an innings and 47 runs. The defeat also made Pakistan the first team to score a 500-plus total in the first innings and suffer an innings defeat.

Joe Root ne aapke sath balatkar kiya hai - Rashid Latif

Rashid Latif did not mince his words as he slammed Pakistan for their poor performance in the first Test. His comments came at the end of the fourth day of the Test. Speaking to veteran cricket correspondent Nauman Niaz, Rashid Latif also ended up making a highly derogatory comment.

The former cricketer was talking about Root's batting when he made the comment. Niaz, who was the host of the interview, asked Rashid Latif about Root's fitness level. Niaz pointed out that Root was on the field for 258.1 overs and did not look tired while Pakistan players looked completely devoid of energy.

"Talking about Joe Root, he is a classical example. Technically, he is a very sound player. He has already scored most runs (Tests) for England. His technique is very good," said Rashid Latif.

"Our players play in the air. English players play on the ball's pitch. Note that when there is a ball on the middle stump, Joe Root will play it straight. Even if it is an inswing, he will try to play it straight. Our players put their foot forward the moment the ball is released," he added while pointing out the technical weakness of Pakistan batters.

Speaking further, Rashid Latif said that Root has raped the Pakistan team, leaving Niaz completely shocked.

We are talking about Joe Root. Joe Root has raped you," said Rashid Latif.

The host was visibly shocked at the former cricketer's comment before the latter continued speaking about Root and Brook's batting. He highlighted that the duo hardly took any time to reach from 90 to 100 while the case was entirely different with the Pakistan batters. Latif also pointed out that both Brook and Root were enjoying their batting and indirectly said that they toyed with Pakistan.

"They were enjoying the game. They had a calculation. They had a target. They were having fun. They were reversing, paddling. They totally destroyed your cricket.

"I don't know about the future results but today is one of the most shameful days of Pakistan cricket," said Latif.
