Sanju Samson was left embarrassed after his hesitation to take a review cost Rajasthan Royals a wicket in the ongoing game against Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
The incident took place in the 13th over of the Delhi Capitals innings when Jofra Archer was bowling. Sanju Samson reintroduced Archer into the attack for the 13th over after Abishek Porel and KL Rahul's 50-plus stand had steadied the ship for Delhi Capitals.
Archer made an instant impact by dismissing a well-set Rahul on the fourth ball of the over. Rahul departed for 38 runs and sharing a 63-run stand with Abishek Porel for the third wicket.
Jofra was breathing fire with the ball
And on the final ball of the same over, he would have also dismissed Porel, but was denied the wicket because he and his teammates did not appeal for it.
Archer bowled a well-directed bouncer, and Porel did not have any room to play a shot. The Delhi Capitals opener tried to ramp the ball over the wicketkeeper but could not make any contact with the ball. At first, it looked like there was no contact and the Royals players, including Sanju, did not appeal for a caught behind.

However, replays showed that Porel had indeed edged the ball. And as soon as the replay was shown on the giant screen, Archer was seen talking to Sanju Samson about the same. While the fast bowler did not look angry, his reactions made it clear that he wanted a review, but Sanju Samson did not go for it.

Delhi Capitals finish strong
Fortunately for the Royals, the mistake did not cost them big as Wanindu Hasaranga dismissed Porel in the very next over. The wicketkeeper-batsman departed after scoring 49 runs off 37 balls.
Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals have finished their innings on 188/5. After Porel and Rahul departed in quick succession, Captain Axar Patel and Tristan Stubbs played handy knocks to guide their team to a big total. Axar scored 34 runs off just 14 balls while Stubbs scored an unbeaten 34 off 18 balls.
