Steve Smith Vs Jofra Archer

Australia National Cricket Team batter Steve Smith surely would've gotten glimpses of the Ashes 2019 in the ongoing third ODI against England National Cricket Team. The match between the two teams is taking place at the Riverside Ground in Chester-le-Street on Tuesday (24th September).

Steve Smith, who failed to get going in the second ODI against England, came up with a vital hand for his team in the ongoing third ODI. The premier batter slammed a decent half-century and made sure that brought his side's innings on track after they lost a few quick wickets.

Smith looked in great control as he played gorgeous strokes in his innings. But what was the highlight of his knock was his battle with Jofra Archer. The duo, who have had great competition in the past, yet again made sure they gave their best for the team.

Both Smith and Jofra Archer tried to get on top of each other, and during their battle, the fast bowler might have reminded the batter of what he did to him during the Ashes 2019. The fast bowler had hit the batter on the head with his bouncer as he faced a concussion and was ruled out of the game.

In the ongoing game, something similar happened. Smith was on the floor against Jofra Archer, but not in the way a fast bowler would've wanted. The batter fell on the ground after he tried to be cheeky and get some quick runs for him and his team.

Jofra Archer bowled a back-of-a-length delivery outside off, to which Steve Smith walked a long way across. The Australia National Cricket Team batter attempted a scoop shot, but he missed, and in the process, he fell on the ground.

Smith, however, didn't get carried away by that as the batter was completely focused and played a magnificent innings for his team. The right-hander, who scored 32 runs in the first ODI, slammed a crucial half-century and made sure he put his team in a decent position.

However, his stay at the crease was cut short by Jofra Archer. The fast bowler bowled a short ball which Smith pulled. Brydon Carse ran from deep backward square leg to his left and, on the knee slide, took it with two hands. The ball was travelling but he made it look so easy.

This was the first time that Jofra Archer removed Steve Smith in ODIs. But the fast bowler has kept things tight with the ball. In the 50 balls that he has bowled, he has given away just 29 runs at a strike rate of just 58. The pacer has also delivered 32 dot balls as well.

Steve Smith ended with an inning of 60 runs off 82 balls. He looked all set for a ton but couldn't. He also slammed 5 fours in his innings and helped Australia National Cricket Team post a total of 304 runs on the board.
