The dramatic incident happened during the TNPL 2025 clash between Chepauk Super Gillies and Nellai Royal Kings at the SNR College Cricket Ground in Coimbatore on June 9.

The fans got to see the amusing moment in the powerplay when Nellai Royal Kings pacer Emmanuel Cherian delivered a sharp-length ball to Chepauk Super Gillies opener K. Aashiq. The batter tried to smash it over long-on and connected hard, but the force was too much for his bat.

The willow split right at the moment of impact, with a chunk of it flying through the air straight toward Cherian. The broken part of the bat went past the bowler, missing him by inches, leaving players and fans stunned at the SNR College Cricket Ground.
