Watch: Katherine Brunt Knocks Over Pooja Vastrakar With A Jaffa

England seamer Katherine Brunt may have just bowled the ‘ball of the summer’ on the third morning of the one-off Test against India Women.

It all happened during the 81st over in India’s first innings. Having taken the brand new cherry, Katherine Brunt made it count on the very first delivery she bowled.

Katherine Brunt pitched the ball on the middle and leg stump and it proceeded to hoop away sharply to knock over the off-pole of Pooja Vastrakar.

It was a dream delivery by the right-arm seamer, one that would have got any top-order batter in trouble. According to CricViz, the ball swung 1.9 degrees in the air and seamed away 1.5 degrees, making it absolutely unplayable.

And, it kind of summed up India’s morning.

Day 03 started off on a disastrous note for Team India as they continued to fall like ninepins following a whirlwind 167-run opening stand between Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana.

And, the procession continued on the third morning as the visitors lost T20I skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and Taniya Bhati in quick succession thanks to left-arm orthodox, Sophie Ecclestone.

The innings finally folded at 231 in 81.2 overs following which Heather Knight proceeded to enforce the follow-on.

At the time of writing, India was 1/41 in 10 overs with Shafali Verma and Deepti Sharma holding the fort.
