Kavem Hodge who batted West Indies out of trouble in the first innings of the second Test has gone early on the very first day of the third Test. West Indies from 97/3 at lunch have gone into deeper trouble losing two quick wickets post-lunch.

Skipper Kraigg Brathwaite was the first to go off the last ball of the 29th over when he edged one straight to the keeper Jamie Smith. On the very first ball of the 30th over, Hodge left a straight one from Chris Woakes.

The ball pitched on the off stump and remained straight as it castled the off stump. Kavem Hodge the batter was expecting the ball to leave the stumps but the ball remained straight as he misjudged a straight one.

Hodge who batted for 171 balls in the first innings of the second Test lasted just 11 balls as West Indies continued to lose wickets on the opening day of the third Test match.

Mikyle Louis along with his skipper Brathwaite added 76 runs for the first wicket. Then in the next 60-odd runs, West Indies have lost five wickets. Their batting has not been able to sustain the pace from Mark Wood and the channelized bowling from Chris Woakes.

West Indies have already lost the series heading into this Test match. They lost the first two Tests and are in a very bad position in this final Test as well. The Test series loss has pushed them back to the tenth position on the WTC points table. They have won just one Test match and lost four.

England on the other hand, have been able to lift themselves upto the sixth position on the table. They won the first Test by an innings and 114 runs and the second by 241 runs.

The dismissal of Hodge now has exposed the lower-order of West Indies against the England bowlers. Jason Holder and Joshua De Silva are the last recognized batters in the XI. Both will need to stitch a long partnership and bat throughout the day. With a session and a half still to go, West Indies are in danger of being bowled out.

Earlier in the day, the West Indies skipper won the toss and opted to bat first. Gudakesh Motie replaced Kevin Sinclair who broke his arm with Mark Wood bowling to him a rocket. Shamar Joseph is a part of the playing XI as well and with Alzarri Joseph has a big role to play if West Indies are dreaming of winning this Test match.
