Former Australian Leg-Spinner Kerry O’Keeffe who now works as a Cricket Pundit for Fox Sports ridiculed the Pakistani cricket team for their goodwill of presenting the Australian team with Christmas presents during a training session before the Boxing Day 2nd Test started at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

In Pakistan Cricket Board’s latest video on social media, players and coaching staff of the Men in Green were seen greeting Australia Captain Pat Cummins and a few kids with goodies and candies during an indoor training session.

They might have done so to maintain the spirit of cricket and to share a short moment of celebration before squaring off in the field. Pakistan’s friendly gesture to Australia is receiving a lot of mixed reactions from fans on social media.

But the reaction of Kerry O’Keeffe on seeing Pakistan giving presents to the Aussie is doing rounds on the internet. In a video uploaded on Fox Cricket’s Instagram handle, O’Keeffe can be seen mocking and ridiculing the Men in Green’s “soft” and “pleasant” gesture to the Aussies that too before a Test match they desperately need to win to save the 3-match Test series.

Australia are already 1-0 up and O’Keeffe funnily said that Pakistan should spice things up with Australia rather than getting presents. He went on to ask if Sourav Ganguly during his playing days would have brought a “Christmas present” for then-Aussie captain Steve Waugh ahead of a do-or-die Test match.

“This Test series is being played in the best of spirits? You’re not going to beat Australia in the best of spirits. Christmas Presents yesterday. Would Sourav Ganguly have arrived with Christmas presents to Steve Waugh? No.” – Kerry O’Keeffe said.

Kerry O’Keeffe Demands For A Feisty Attitude To Beat Australia At Their Home

It will be fair to say that Kerry O’Keeffe doesn’t appreciate Pakistan’s gesture as he expected them to have an aggressive intensity. He said to beat Australia, a team has to have a Feisty attitude of aggression and belief and said that this pleasant gesture from Pakistan will not help them.

The 74-year-old further made a mockery of Pakistan by saying that they cannot be this nice to the Australians and then welcome them to Bat with a half-volley on the very first ball. In case you didn’t know, a half-volley can also be known as an over-pitched delivery which is a type of ball that lands very close to the Batter’s feet, making it easier for them to go for a big shot.

“You’ve got to play feisty against the Aussies. You have to have some spite. This is too pleasant. And then opening the Boxing Day with a half-volley.” – O’Keeffe concluded.
